Artist statement

My art is about exploring beyond what we see with our eyes. Reality for me has far more depth and breath than just surface features. There is an inner reality that many artists have found to be transending the nuts and bolts of life. So colors, textures, contrast and composition become very personal.

Experimenting is my way of exploring a kind of visual poetry. This is planned or evolves from a false start. Other works begin as a spontaneous pouring, brushing or splattering. This approach allows the imagination to feed on the suggested forms and colors. The work becomes valid as I add, subtract and balance to find that point where it feels right and complete.
